I think it is a generational thing. My partner and I run a law firm. About half the kid lawyers we interview or even end up hiring have no life experience, no common sense and no idea or interest in how to solve problems. They want us to tell them how to do everything or give them a form to fill out; and God forbid they open up a book to figure out how to solve a problem. If it is not on a computer, they aren't interested. They want an easy job with no real responsibility: like taking ownership of their work. They have 7-8 years of college and professional education and they don't know a thing about how to survive in a law practice. In a natural world they would be killed and eaten. Kind of scary. Fortunately a few good ones pop up. My older doctor friends are seeing similar issues in their field.
