35 years ago I bought my grandfathers sharpening stones at his estate sale. Ever since then I have sharpened my own knives using mainly one his old stones, mainly a white one that makes a very nice edge. The honing oil I used for years came with the stones in a blue plastic squeeze bottle. When that ran out I got the same brand, but the latest bottle said honing "solution". I have used the "solution" for the last year, but noticed that I was not getting as good of an edge. Luckily I ran out of the "solution". And luckily I found some "Norton" sharpening stone "oil". Wow what a difference!!! Like new again. At the risk of causing a run and raising the price, this Norton oil works really well and is real mineral oil. I read the label on the "solution" and it is not oil at all. So if you want really sharp knives and tools try this Norton oil...
