Always use 1 quart or 1 gallon LESS than the specified capacity. Why? You have residual fluid still in the system. Unless you have completely pulled the pump for rebuild and completely drained the entire system, there will always be some oil in the lines. hat is why when I do the Ford Tractors, mine or any others I work on, I don't refill with five gallons of oil. That will only get spilling due to overfill. I pour 4 gallons in, Run system good to circulate, then shut down for a few hours then check dipstick again. 9 times out of 10 the level is perfect.
