My Father, who passed away some 40 years ago made the same observation about baseball. His idea was to apply a "shot clock" to the pitcher and batter. Along with Tim's observation about the batter and the batter box, I get tired of the pitcher adjusting his had and scratching almost every part of his anatomy. If he were limited in how much time he had to get the pitch off and likewise a batter had a limit on his time to be ready for a pitch it would move faster, especially if a penalty like a mandatory walk for a pitcher violation and a mandatory strike or out for the batter, things would hasten along more quickly, I think.

Just my opinion.
