I have come into possession of a 1959 Ford book listing several service bulletins, etc for 8N tractors. Included are some s/n and date breaks for some of the changes...mostly in 1949. It might help some narrow down their tractor's "birthday".
August 25, 1949 = s/n 215043: change in bolt that holds oil seal to retainer & cup and center housing.
August 25, 1949 = s/n 215050: change to reverse idler gear thrust washer.
August 29, 1949 = s/n 215759: changes to draft control spring, plunger, rocker and lift cover plate.
September 1, 1949 = s/n 217307: changes to hydraulic pump intake control valve and bushing.
September 2, 1949 = s/n 216989: changes to dash panel, steering gear and drag links.
Yes, I noticed the discrepancy. Serial number on Sept 1 is after s/n on Sept 2. Doesn't anyone proofread anymore?
