The machine tool manufacturer I work for does not use copper, but they are doing this
for industrial purposes with usually over .010" chrome over a diameter that then gets
ground to a finish size. They use tape to mask off everything on the part except the
feature that is being plated. We grind the part .003" past the tolerance prior to
chroming.
