The top bearing fails from lack of lube.This causes excessive play.See if the steering wheel moves up and down when turned side to side.when the top bearing fails the steering wheel will move upward on a left turn.New top bearing costs about 30 bucks.Dont use the nylon replacement type,its ng.You can replace the top bearing with out taking the box off the tractor.I put grease in my tractor steering box.There are 4 seal that will leak oil in worn boxes.
