Mark-
First, lighting kits were never 'stock' from the Rouge and Highland Park factories. Lights were dealer accessories available as separate options. The original FORD Tract-O-Lites came out around 1943 with the sealed beam lamps. They replaced the larger CM HALL headlights used from the 1939 9N til then. So, if you are trying to get sealed beams into the old CM HALL buckets,it ain't gonna work. Those use a reflector with a bayonet style bulb. The Tract-O-Lites (FORD Trademark)used the sealed beam lamps, industry standard now as part number 4019 for the 6-volt, 4419 for the 12 volt. Look at my pictures of the original Tract-O-Lite headlights and see if yours are the same. The lamp is held in by the bezel which I have always found to be a nice tight fit. You either have the wrong lamps, the wrong buckets, or both. The name "TRACT-O-LITE" is stamped on the headlight bucket around the top front periphery.
