FB-Have you looked in our HOW-TO's forum? There is a ton of info there on maintaining these old tractors. Here is a link to one that describes how to set timing on your front mount 9N distributor. There is also a fellow here that makes a tool to set the points with. Look for Dan Allen, aka The Old Hokie, at Windy Ridge Farms. Rarely should one have to re-adjust the timing plate when rebuilding a front mount at tune-up. Setting the new points usually is all that is required. You do know that that the tang on the back of the distributor is offset and it only mounts one way? That ensures your timing will be correct at start up.
