I say go for it. In Michigan the triangle sign is all you need. If you are only running in the daylight hours, I don't think you even need lights. l would look for an 8n (4 speed) to give you the speed you want/need.. :) Maybe a 9n with a Sherman step up trans. Because you are not looking for a farm worker, I would look for one with turf tread on the back instead of the ag. lugs. It will give you a better ride on the road and less road noise. That also helps on the purchase price because a lot of people shy away from them for everything but mowing. Make up or get a side by side seat so you can hall more than just yourself. Get youself a nice carry all for the back, throw in a few hay bales for the extra people and head out to get ice cream.
if you were going for a lot of looks, make up a WWII 2n clone on steel wheels and rap them in rubber. Thou the ride will be pretty tough.
