I did just as you suggest, got the idea it would be fun to restore an old tractor, mulled it over for a time, found an 8N that was in pretty good shape for not too much money and got the bug. Now I have restored one 39 9N and am presently restoring the original 8N. I drive mine over to Starbucks occasionally and through the local neighborhoods, as well as show it off at local farmer's markets and taking it to shows. It is a lot of fun and a very engaging activity. I just put a slow vehicle triangle on mine and have had no issues on the streets around Palo Alto, CA. Of course I avoid streets where there is a lot of traffic.
Add to this the fact that through this board I have exchanged a lot of information and gained a whole range of friends with whom I communicate.
