In the past two years, I have gone from zero knowledge to a fair understanding of my 44 12 volt 2N. But I am still learning, and need some opinions. My 2N came back from painting with what I thought was the governor spring painted stiff. After looking at it and my manual, I find it was a very small spring more suited to a child's toy. I have installed the correct spring. Apparently, I have been running for two years without a gov. Now I understand, "throttle pulls back". My problem is I become so used to running without a gov, I concerned about my RPM's being too high now. I am only able to use about 2/3 throttle. The engine just seems to scream! This afternoon I came up the hill with a FULL tailer load of wood, 2/3 throttle, engine pouring out power, wheels spinning and mud flying. The extra power is amazing, but I am used to an ungoved engine and am afraid to actually use full throttle because of excessive RPMs? If you don't know, you just don't know.
Am I doing something wrong, or do these things actually scream with power? Opinions solicited.
