Throttle Control Rod Removal

I'm trying to get the governor off of the 8N to replace the leaking gasket. The long rod from the throttle control lever to the governor does not seem to have the same spring loaded slide for removal (like the choke rod and carb rod). Can someone please tell me how to unhook this rod from the governor?
