Probably should taken some photos when the brakes were was disassembled 8 months ago,
but did not think it would take this long before re assembly.. yea old memory bank collapsed.
Yes, you understood my second question on proper orientation of adjustments screws.
The adjustment wheel needs to align with the window cutout in z plate.
Will probably install the secondary spring on both sides even though the 48-49 parts manual indicates the left side, only.
Appears the conical compression spring that fits over the brake "camshaft" keeps the shaft in the ball socket. One end of the spring digs into the shaft to anchor it. Twisted the spring on the shaft with pedal arm still attached with large end up against the sheet metal hole cover thne adjust the spring position to create a side force on the shaft.
