When you replaced the steering shaft housing did that include the casting that bolts to the top of the steering box (the steering shaft tube fits into this casting)? There are shims under that casting that adjust the preload on the thrust bearings. Perhaps your lower thrust bearing has failed. It "carries the load" when turning to the right. Regardless of what has happened you're going to have to disassemble the box to find out what the problem is.
