My '48 8n front distributor is having a fuel problem. It was working fine, but when I was doing some mowing, it acted like it wasn't getting fuel (I had to choke it to keep running) but very little power. I checked the fuel filter that goes into the top of the carb, IT flows freely. I pulled the plug at the bottom of the carb, no fuel. I removed the carb, blew out the jets, left the bottom off the carb and hitched up the feed line, plenty of flow. I then put the carb back together except for the drain plug. I turned on the gas, and, after about a minute, it barely dribbled out. It seems like the float or the valve that it governs is the problem, but they look fine. I adjusted the float to 9/16 clearance between the gasket and the top of the float. Still no gas. I don't know what to do now. Any ideas? I shouldn't have had to adjust the float, it was running fine for months.
