Last spring I had the top cover off my 8N and replaced the hydraulic cylinder, piston, seals and cam following pin. While I was in there, I replaced the check valve, cleaned and replaced the fluid with TSC mineral oil for old Fords. I used Zane Sherman's jig to adjust the linkage. Every thing is working well, lifts great and holds steady. The question I have is regarding the amount of travel for the quadrant control lever that controls the lift. Seems mine only uses the top 2-3" of travel and I am wondering if I have it adjusted correctly? If so, why is there so much travel available on the quadrant as I am only using the top 2-3"? Do I need to pull the top cover and adjust it again (differently)?
