had to drain the hydraulic fluid, then removed the pipes and vane pump. The piston pump I thought was ready to go on but wasn't because I had messed up the rebuild apparently. anyway once I replaced gaskets in the piston pump, and got the correct O-rings for the manifold it went on okay along with the pipes for the piston pump. So I wouldn't call the process very hard. Only 2 gal of hydraulic fluid so draining out that much is not too bad.
