You can also use a wear sleeve that is a thin steel sleeve that fits over the shaft on your original pully to give a new surface for the seal to ride on. SKF makes redi-sleeve that can be gotten in a size that works. These would require using a circular seal in the groove where the rope seal is normally used, but these work well and you will need to replace these anyway. These sleeves run about $25-$30 last time I checked.
