Hydraulic Pump Pressure Relief Valve

I went to replace the Hydraulic Pump Pressure Relief Valve so I could reinstall the pump. I had gotten one a couple of years back and had it on hand. I got it off flea bay; yeah, stupid on my part. The listing stated (Valve Assembly for Ford Tractor 2N 8N 9N Jan/48 to Dec/52 8N638). When I removed the one in the pump and compared it to the new one there were differences; the plunger was shorter and the spring was weaker. OK, not going to install it. I noticed it was made in India; dang it to heck, can't we make stuff in America any more?

Here is my question. I rebuilt the pump myself some 18 years ago; I installed a new relief valve; part of a rebuild kit I purchased from Steiner. Over the years since, the tractor mainly just ploughed the gardens in the spring. The last couple of years I have used the tractor for hauling wood as well. Do I need to replace the valve? The plunger is free; moves back and forth without resistance, and the spring still has the tension. I got the valve because I figured why not since the pump was going to be out and it would be an easy job.
