shut off stem

FYI. I had replaced my fuel bowl shut off stem about 15 years ago on my 1950 8-N. Recently, I Made the mistake of opening my fuel shut off stem all the way. It started leaking pass the nut on the stem. I ordered a new stem from a dealer on Ebay. It looks identical to the old one. It was made in India. It didn't leak but it would not shut the gas flow to the carb off. I ended re-using my old stem and the new seal off the one I just ordered and all is good now. Go Figure? Another land of almost right strikes again.
