'Rinse' trans'

'47 8N. Tractor is split at the trans. to center section to get the 1st. and 3rd. shift rail out to repair the notch. new stick coming and will repair shift gates in the cover if too sloppy. I want to 'rinse' every thing with some solution under pressure while it is apart and don't want to tear things apart any further. Should I use Diesel?, kerosene? Mission creep already well under way. On this site daily for decades. Thank you very much, Chy
