Ok, everyone has who has responded has answered my question, confirming what I thought! Now, answering Timís questions: battery is shot! Will charge, but will not hold that charge overnight, let alone handle a load for more than several cranks! The generator does have a belt tensioner on it! When, tested, (3 wire) I was getting barely 6v on a new charge at the battery, and no voltage at the generator at high rpms. I will retest this once I get all the snow off it and running again, but Iím pretty certain itís done! Also,12v have never been put thru this tractor. The whole reason for my question was because I have several good 12v batteryís that will fit! Just didnít feel like spending $100+ at tractor supply for a 6v battery and possibly more $ for a generator fix! Hence my idea of a 12v battery and added resistor to at least git er goin so I can reevaluate in the Spring time. The engine is tired, but does what I need it to do! It will never get a rebuild, in my lifetime anyway, so perhaps a12v conversion is in the near future!
Thanks All!
