OK - 1st question is: How do you know the GEN is dead? Did you test it? Your trickle charger may have overcharged/fried the battery. You need a float charger like the DELTRAN BATTRERY TENDER JR. Did you test the battery under load? Do you have a fan belt tensioning device on the GEN? Next- is it the OEM GEN? Is the wiring correct for this 6V/POS GRN system? All 9N/2N GEN's from s/n 12500 were the same basically: 1-Wire/3-Brush 'A' Type Design, 11 AMP, with belt tensioner AND used the roundcan cutout circuit, 1-Wire Starter Motor w/NO SOLENOID, and also the front mount distributor and OEM Ballast Resistor. Battery should be 6V GRP 1 AG type, cables thick 6V Gauge 00. OEM components meant to be rebuilt over and over. I rebuild GENs, STARTERs, DISTs, CARBS, and more. Email is open. If it won't start now with 6V what makes you think with 12V? You are making assumptions and guesses. Rookie mistake #1. There is more to true root cause problem solving and guessing isn't one. Got your ESSENTIAL MANUIALS? Start there with wiring. I have an OEM 2N GEN all rebuilt to spec and ready to go complete with belt tensioner. Email is open.
