Points from most all sources these days are of poor construction. When that happens to me on any of my 8N's or my 960 that have been running great I hop off and check the points gap. After re-gapping they often fire right up and preform as they should. Todays cam blocks wear rapidly. Sometimes the tractor will give a warning like a stutter on a hard pull or quick turn but often they stop dead with no warning at all. May or may not be your problem at all but it is a quick and simple diagnostic step.
