As Tim says, a 5 foot is pretty standard to use on the N. However it depends to some extent on what you are mowing.

I use a 5 foot Ford 901 on either my 2N or my 860.

If you get into heavy stuff you may find your self mowing in 1st gear. In real light 3rd will also work fine if the ground is not too rough. Actually one year with plenty of moisture I had a section of one field where I made about three passes to mow it. First pass with the mower lifted as high as I could lift it, second pass lowered about half way and the third pass completely lowered. I have even been able to mow with the 860 in 4th gear. Different situation, different answer.
