Classic symptom of a Delco 10SI 3 wire alternator with no isolation in the line from ignition switch to #1 pin in the edge plug.

No isolation allows feedback from alternator back to ignition coil and the engine continues to run.

Common isolation options are to add a diode, indicator lamp, or resistor in the line.
