I used the V8 flywheel, and had to drill and tap new holes so the tractor pressure plate and clutch assembly would bolt-up. I did not use a kit. None were available when I started the project. My adapter plate needed to be 1-1/2" thick for everything to fit and work with the tractor clutch linkage and transmission input shaft. The V8 starter is similar to the tractor starter but mounts on the opposite side of the engine. In order to avoid hacking the transmission housing for starter drive clearance, I used a gear reduction starter that engages from the engine side. The chronic flathead cooling problems were addressed by using a bigger radiator, upgraded water pumps from Summit, and an electric fan.
