Tim & Bruce,
I did go through most all of the wiring and connections, and when I re-installed the starter, I did put a very thin layer of grease around it. Hopefully it will keep it free for some time to come. I did test/check the old battery before buying the new one. I used a battery hydrometer, and then I had the farm supply shop also test it. Then we had a short funeral service for the poor dead thing!
New 6 volts are NOT cheap anymore. About fell over when heard the price. Been many years since I bought one.

I do hope others see this post, and when they are faced with a non-starting issue, think to start with the most obvious. Grounding is a most common gremlin..

Spent most of the day yesterday with grandson driving the N around the acres. He looks like an old seasoned farmer up there driving that old beauty. I have to smile each time I seem him go through all the safety items before starting, and then that big smile each time it fires up. Off he goes,

"N's" are great bonding tools,

Jim
