All good answers given and as Duey said, do some more investigating before you tear down the engine for a rebuild. Your oil grade is used by many and is adequate, but grade isn't your problem anyway. Gauge readings bouncing up and down are not normal. There is much data given on oil -do an archive search for 'oil TOH' and read the many posts from days gone by. You can also try to crack the oil line fitting loose when it drops and see if there is oil getting to the line. If running OK have you done a compression test?
