I don't have to worry about leaks, the damage was to the bell housing area (clutch housing). My very big concern was (is) the possibility of the tractor breaking in half at this area if I didn't get it right. The welding on this wasn't the same as welding pieces of steel together, the transmission is cast steel, You can't just keep welding till it's all welded up, if you do it will get too hot and when it cools you get more cracks. You weld little bit and let it cool slowly or even keep it warm with a small torch and slowly bring the heat down by reducing the flame if the area you're working in is cold. I also worked small areas then moved to another spot and welded till all my welds were joined. I really hope I got it right, time will tell when I put the old girl back to work. God Bless, Beth and Allen.
