Measure or match up the bolt hole pattern, don't go by o/a widths or lengths or measuring from edges. If you have an aftermarket pump, is there one, I've never seen one, then that could be the problem. What is wrong with the pump you had originally? If not cracked, can be rebuilt. Where did you get the one that doesn't 'fit'? The suffix "A' denotes aluminum, and the 'B' suffix denotes cast iron as listed in the MPC. The '2' on the 'A2' denotes an alternate supplier, but the design wouldn't change. I'm saying FORD didn't, wouldn't have made two different parts without reason. Not only would the base have to change, the center housing would have to as well. If they did, I never heard of it and don't see anything in the MPC do verify they were. maybe Scott can chime in. Do you have a 7/16-14 tap? Send me some pictures.
