All FORD electrical systems were OEM 6V/POS GRN, not just tractors, up until 1950-something. System will work on 6V or 12V, POS or NEG GRN, however if not wired CORRECTLY will cause issues. The best tool you can invest in as a newbie (or an oldie) is the ESSENTIAL MANUALS. If you donít know what a generator, cutout, ballast resistor, front mount distributor, and ammeter are and do, read more before messing with anything. Go to our HOW-TOís and download WIRING PICTOGRAMS by JMOR and 75 Tips For N-Owners by Bruce(VA) as well. Start there. If it runs now, donít muck with it.
