Hi Guy-
How bad is the oil leak? Have you checked the weep drain hole with the cotter pin in it to see if you are not seeing some excess oil dripping from it? What is the overall condition of the engine? If it is worn and needs a rebuild, it might behoove you to consider it's time for a total rebuild. You are half way there as far as pulling the engine so you may want to consider it. OEM seals were made of two-piece rope but newer aftermarket ones are now the one-piece design. NAPA, Carpenter, Just8Ns, all carry them. Since you are dropping the pan anyway either way, you might want to consider rebuilding the oil pump too. Now, the best investment tool for every N-Owner is the Essential Manuals. They are every bit as important to have as any wrench. All your questions can be answered in them. The OEM Operator's manual, Service Manual, MPC, and the Clymer/I&T FO-4 Manual are highly recommended if ya wanna be an N-Owner. If you don't already have a set, invest in them and read religiously. Most all of your questions can be found in those manuals and what isn't covered can be found on the NTC forums. Here are some examples of what you can find in the Essential Manuals:
