Wally the fill and level plug is on the right side of the trans housing. The filter mentioned above is under the top cove and is only a bypass type. There is a intake strainer located in the bottom of the Interlock Servo cover on the Left side of the trans housing. It also serves as the drain. The strainer has a round and stepped end cap that fastens with a small strap with a bolt. Undo the bolt, work the cap back and forth slightly while pulling it straight out then when screen appears rotate the drain hole in the end straight down to facilitate complete drainage of oil. When oil slows to a trickle you can remove the screen to inspect it's contents. That will tell you a great deal about the condition of the trans. Metal shavings and clutch/ band lining will be the indicators. Smell a sample of the oil to see if it has a burned aroma. Like was said by others the transmission uses the UTF type fluid. SoS.
