I was given a free tiller many years ago and tried to make it work on my 8N with a Sherman Combo. My feeling was as others have said, First gear low with a Sherman Combo is still too fast for a tiller. I was able to eventually get a small area tilled by doing several passes, a little deeper each time. Another way to run the tiller was to knock the tractor out of gear lower the tiller and control how much the tractor moved with the brakes. I played with it for about an hour one day and gave up. I decided it might be possible to turn an existing garden area, but most of my property has too much hard pan, clay, roots, and rocks for a tiller. Even if I could find a Howard creeper transmission, I decided the tiller mounted solid to the tractor was completely inconvenient and it was going to quickly hammer me and the tractor to pieces. I gave the tiller away to a new victim. For my needs a disk is much easier to attach and does all the "plowing" I need to do.
