Ford 600 generator

Hi, I'm sure you guys get tired of same questions- I checked the archive first and can't find direct answer so here goes:

Installing wire harness (fron Brillman seems very good). I have the JMOR diagrams, the manuals and etc and have diligently followed, plus directions came with harness. Have not re-started the machine yet as waiting for new ignition switch.
I'm concerned with connections to the gen itself. There are three wires. I found F and G labels on the bottom two wires (close together bottom of gen) and another unmarked wire on top. I "think" I have them on correct.
But I saw a post somewhere that said G could be GEN vice GROUND which would make a difference...
I assumed (always dangerous) that the unmarked wire on top must be ARM(ature). Is correct?
Anybody have a real simple explanation of what's what?
