Are you doing a restoration? The Ford OEM system was 6V/POS GRN so we will surmise you are staying with the original. Do you have the 3-Wire/3-Brush or 3-Wire/2 Brush if after s/n 263844 generator? The OEM 8N VR was the AUTO-LITE unit – see attached picture. The bad news is nobody repops them or makes parts, rubber insulator feet included. The there was a mounting plate too. If you don’t have another to use, providing it a good, then you will have to bite the bullet and get one of the new aftermarket units. They sell one with the backing plate see JUST8NS. Here are some wiring diagrams to help you with plus the LINK below is from our HOW-TO’s forum, ELECTRICAL, “WIRING PICTOGRAMS by JMOR”, an excellent step by step pictorial on every wiring config for the N’s. All of these diagrams are in the essential manuals.
