I went to the first day of that auction when they sold the parts, etc. Time sure flys.
Lots of people and lots of neat stuff. Lots of mud too!
I bought the bumper I still have on my 3000 there.
I had met Palmer a few times before.
Bought a few small things from him and bought my first One Armed Bandit loader from him.
He told me the story of how he acquired it.
An old man had it on an 8N for many years and used it a Lot - but gently.
Then he passed away and and a young couple bought the homestead including the tractor.
The new owner was way too rough with it and broke the tractor in half.
Palmer bought the tractor/loader and had to winch it on his trailer in 3 pieces. Then he put a different transmission in the 8N and sold it.
I bought the loader from it.
He used another 8N with a Dearborn loader to put it on my trailer.
Watching him clamber up the 3 point to get into the seat convinced me right then and there that I didn't EVER want one of those jungle gym loaders.
Fair winds and following seas to you Mr. Fossum. You were a kind and friendly man and I feel fortunate to have met you.
