6V or 12V? Front Mount or side mount? A starter with a solenoid that just 'clicks' the solenoid when the starter pushbutton is depressed usually indicates a dead battery. If you do not use a float charger, invest in a good one like the Battery Tender to maintain the battery full charge if tractor is going to set for 30 days or more. Lubing the cylinders is good but I'd investigate the battery status first. Don't assume that if you simply attach a charger it will be good. Take the unit to a reliable starter/alternator shop or your local auto parts franchise and have it verified on their test equipment. Most places will usually test the battery for free. If specific gravity is not met, the cells will not maintain a full charge UNDER LOAD which is what you must have to start the engine with. Next would be spark and fuel tests. Realize too that 99.98% of all root cause failures of starting issues is due to mucked up wiring whether if OEM 6V/POS GRN or a 12V/NEG GRN switch over job. Many times 12V conversions are done poorly/incorrectly and thus fail in the field. See WIRING PICTOGRAMS by JMOR in our HOW-TO's/ELECTRICAL forum.
