Larry, about 20 years ago I used Zanes advice. Remove the acorn nut, clean up the threads and put the nut back on about four turns. Soak with Kroil, hold a heavy hammer against one side of the steering hub and hit the opposite side with a two pound hammer. Do this several times all the way around the hub.Then stand up and grab a hold of the wheel with both hands rock it back and forth while pulling up with all your might. You may have to repeat this several times but it will come loose. The nut will keep you from going on your arse when it does.
