Hoping to get some ideas for removing the steering wheel from my 8N. I inherited the tractor from my dad. He had wrapped the deteriorated wheel with lots of duct tape. Then a neighbor who was using it put a steering wheel cover over the duct tape. That was over 20 years ago. The cover was falling apart and, as I was looking for a new steering wheel cover, I ran across an old blog discussing repairing/restoring them. It suggested, among other things, using Oatey FixIt stick epoxy putty. So I tackled it. I'm still getting tape residue off, but I have started puttying up places where the plastic had broken out. It would be so much easier to get every crack and make the final product look good if I could get the steering wheel off. My three-leg puller shaft end slides into the hollow steering shaft. Also, I'm afraid to damage the edges where I have to hook the puller legs.
Any ideas? Torches?
