A head gasket on a flat head is pretty straight forward as you don't have to deal with rockers and push rods.
The hardest part is getting wires, generator, and oil filter out of your way so you can get to the head bolts. If you have studs the tricky part is lifting the head straight up high enough to clear the studs with the hood and gas tank above it.
You may try torking the head, but once you get a leak of the gasket it is usually too late. I use copper coat on head gaskets and have never had one fail.
