It is called an in frame overhaul. On an L-head you can replace pistons, liners, valves and rod bearings without splitting the tractor. Main bearings can be replaced but you will find it is a PITA and better done by splitting the tractor. Valve seats can be resurfaced IF you have access to a portable seat grinder. You will not be able to resurface the crankshaft journals which may or may not be an issue for you. IMO, unless you have a real problem that really needs to be fixed you would be better off using the tractor until such time as it needs a more thorough overhaul.
