Well, I would say that is a good thing, wouldn't you? However, as an electrical engineer; or at least one with a degree even if I could not work as an engineer, I still say that it is not good to double the voltage. If the tractor starts well then the amount of time it spins is short and might last a long time. However, if it doesn't want to start, I wouldn't keep the starter going for too long of a time as you could burn the windings out. I=V/R; the resistance of the windings is going to stay the same. So doubling the voltage is going to double the current. The higher the current, the higher the heat generated in the windings.
