The sleeves have a lip on top that seals to the head gasket, so, compression is not effected---the crack happens in the block between the sleeves---you'll mostly end up with a small amount of water in the oil--a good indicator is to take off the oil filler cap and look for condensation under the cap--if it looks milky, not a good indication. The bad part about the crack, is that, no only is cracked between the cylinders, but all the way down, usually to the middle main. I've always chosen the Fords over the TOs because of the weak structure of the block, but they were a good running tractor when right.
