If the splines on the axle and hub are worn, you can tighten the nut all you want and it will still be loose---like Bruce suggested---I found some thin washers that will just go over the splines, and still use the existing flat washer over the threads---torque the nut and it will force the splines to snug up and be tight. Also clean the splines off with brake cleaner and apply some silicone sealer in under the washers and if the leak isn't too bad it will stop it. If your brakes still hold good, the gear oil is leaking to the outside through the splines and not inside the brake drum. Dennis
