That is correct. I have an older Shumacher battery charger that provides a high charging current that will bring a discharged battery up quickly and then reduce the current to a trickle charge. I never leave that on after the voltage is at the full charge level. Since I bought the float charger, I use that unless I have a need to use the battery quickly. It is also a good idea to buy a voltmeter to check the voltage.
