OK guys, thanks for your help. If I understand correctly, I can probably disassemble myself but I should get some help with putting it back together. I might can persuade my brother to give me a hand on putting it back together; or maybe my brother-in-law. Understand what you mean Tim on reusing the old cylinder I have. What about the piston? Yes, this is a 1949 8N. The lift does leak down with a heavy implement attached; is that what you meant by the leak down test? It is also slow in raising the implement; it has gotten worst over the years. The heaviest implement I have is a two row; four set, disc harrow and it was getting where I had issues using it last year. The pump was rebuilt many years ago, maybe 18 years now. The tractor does not see constant use. I think an old lift cylinder was used that had scratches or something; I can't remember now. So that is why I am leaning towards it being the lift cylinder and not the pump. I will read though the document you linked to before starting.
