Thermodynamics are fun to watch on a temp gauge. Temperatures climb, metal piece stretch, that sudden blast of cool water and the temp gauge falls like a rock.
A few hundred times and you start to wonder why the imports all have piddle valves installed on stats and why the higher priced starts typically have piddle valves?
That is the small stem that goes through the hole in the face of the stat. I just drill the hole and save a buck or two.
It's your toy.
